- Design innovative Azure integration solutions that drive transformation
- Shape the future of cloud integration with cutting-edge tools
- Join a collaborative, growth-focused culture where bold ideas are embraced
Join a growing integration team as a Senior Integration Developer, combining hands-on delivery with architecture and design leadership, helping clients achieve measurable outcomes across diverse industries.
At Fusion5, we don't just implement technology - we help businesses go beyond with it. As trusted transformation partners across Australia and New Zealand, we deliver connected solutions in business applications, AI, cloud, security, managed services, enterprise service management, and integration.
Fusion 5's Data and Integration team is growing! We're looking for a Senior Integration Developer to join us in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch and help deliver seamless, innovative solutions that empower businesses to thrive. This is an "ArchiDev" style role - senior and hands-on, with a strong solution design focus - shaping integration approaches, defining patterns and standards, and translating business outcomes into robust technical designs. You'll collaborate with analysts and architects, provide trusted advice to clients, and mentor fellow developers - while working on projects that challenge and inspire.
What You'll Do
As a Senior Integration Developer, you'll play a key role in delivering seamless integration solutions that empower our clients and drive business success. In this role, you will:
- Partner with clients and internal teams to understand business outcomes, translate requirements into integration designs, and provide clear technical direction.
- Own solution design for assigned workstreams: define integration patterns, API standards, and non-functional requirements (security, performance, resilience, observability).
- Build and deploy integrations using Azure integration services, APIs, and event/message-based approaches to enable reliable data exchange and workflow automation.
- Lead the delivery lifecycle from design through build, testing, release, and early-life support - ensuring quality and pragmatic trade-offs.
- Create and maintain artefacts such as high-level and detailed designs, interface contracts, sequence flows, and runbooks; contribute to reusable accelerators and templates.
- Support and optimise integrations in production, using strong troubleshooting practices and improving performance, resilience, and cost efficiency.
- Mentor developers, uplift engineering practices (CI/CD, code review, testing), and stay ahead of emerging integration technologies - bringing fresh ideas and pragmatic recommendations to clients and the team.
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years' experience designing and implementing integration solutions (Azure-focused preferred).
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure services such as Functions, API Management, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, and Storage (Blob/Queue).
- Solid understanding of integration patterns and styles (API-led, message/event-driven, synchronous vs asynchronous), and how to apply them appropriately.
- Experience designing and building APIs and integrations using REST (plus exposure to SOAP/GraphQL/Webhooks as required by clients).
- Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js and/or .NET, with strong software engineering fundamentals (testing, code quality, refactoring).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM) and CI/CD practices for integration workloads.
- Strong understanding of security in integration (OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, secrets management, least privilege, threat-aware design).
- Observability mindset - logging, monitoring, alerting and tracing (e.g., Azure Monitor / Application Insights; comparable tools acceptable).
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative development practices (branching strategies, code review).
- Experience working in Agile delivery (e.g., Azure DevOps/Jira) and the ability to estimate, plan, and communicate delivery progress.
- Excellent communication skills - able to facilitate design conversations, explain trade-offs, and mentor others.
Nice to have: Experience with other integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, WSO2, Boomi), Docker/containers, and front-end or scripting technologies (e.g., Angular, JavaScript). Experience with GitLab and advanced CI/CD pipeline build patterns is also beneficial.
Please Note: only locally based candidates with valid, unrestricted work rights can be considered for this role.
What's in it for you?
At Fusion5, you'll be part of a collaborative, growth-focused organisation that values innovation and customer success. We offer:
- Opportunities to shape cutting-edge transformation projects.
- A supportive environment that encourages curiosity, innovation, and continuous learning.
